the playland vs. disneyland

(disclaimer - started this post in MARCH but finally getting around to finishing it)

While Lainey was so sick last week Romney was very cooped up in the house. On Wednesday however he had a play date with one of the great families in our neighborhood. We were excited for him to be able to get out of the house and especially because the mom had asked if it would be okay if she took him to McDonald's. We thought this would be GREAT and we were glad he was going to get out and have some fun. We told him about the trip to McDonald's and he was VERY happy.

When I saw Romney later that night and asked him about the play land he was really upset. He said they had gone to McDonald's and that was fun but then the mom didn't take him to the play land. I was really confused. I saw the mom later that night and she also mentioned that Romney started crying when they left the play land and she said they were headed home. He clearly thought they were going somewhere else but she couldn't figure out where.

Let's face it - Rom is not always easy to understand and she couldn't figure out where he wanted to go. She was able to make out something about one of his uncles. She promised that if he would tell his mom she would take him there next time.

We quizzed and quizzed Romney trying to figure out what he was talking about and finally came to the conclusion that he wanted to go to the place his uncle Jer got him a Mickey Mouse sign. DISNEYLAND. He doesn't really know what Disneyland is - he just knows he wants to go there. I think his super-sensitive-candy-smelling nose can probably smell one of those giant head sized lollipops from here.

Needless to say - Romney did not get to go to Disneyland for his next playdate. Too bad, though - I was hoping maybe she would take me too.

Just take him to Walmart and say that its disneyland. Pretty sure that worked on me.

I want to go to Disneyland too Rom.

Or you could find a burned down building and say "Oh no, Disneyland burned down!" That worked on Jon, too.

On another note, we should all go to Disneyland.

Cute story, way worth a belated posting! Hannah told me that she is saving up her pennies so our family can go to Disneyland. At least that puts it off for a few years!

now that the mystery is solved...I guess all I need is the parental permission slip signed. (If only...)
