PBD

welcome Peter Benjamin! born yesterday (July 30) and seriously the cutest little thing, even hooked up to a million things and with tubes all over! I'll leave the details to Jane, but here are a couple more pictures for Cath especially.

I loved watching Ben with him - he was so sweet and tender. this little guy is one lucky babe to have such great parents!

the cabin as it should be

we just got back from beautiful hebgen, but wonderful as it was it was lacking - so I'm posting these pictures from four years ago, when life at the cabin was still right.

summer lovin' continued

first: the garden.

especially the parts that are still alive.

these pictures don't really give the whole story. my tomatoes are rocking, the squash are extending their vines all over the place, but pretty much anything that has the misfortune of living in my front yard HATES me. but who really cares?

I'm going to have my first crop of homegrown tomatoes really soon, and that is making up for the many other things I've severely neglected. note to self: if it doesn't say drought tolerant, DON'T BUY IT - DON'T PLANT IT!

and the cabin. (heaven.) such happy days.

a little late

I've been checking my blog a lot lately and haven't seen any updates. Weird huh?

Here are a few recent highlights. We spent the morning of the fourth of July "working" in the garden. (sorry the video is sideways - we always forget we can't rotate it. It is of Laine pretending to be a tomato plant and us wanting to make sure she is properly watered so she can grow)

After gardening the celebration started....for my brother's birthday which also happens to be the 4th of July. We went and saw WALL*E or however you write it and then to a BBQ and then the super spectacular driveway of fire in the daylight fireworks show. (we tried to have the tanks and blackhawks fight each other but it didn't work too well.)

We also went on a little camp out that night. We went in search of wildflowers, adventure, and....well....you can figure out for your self what Super Romney is in search of.

summer lovin'

welcome to July, everyone, the month in which my grass will most likely officially become crispified beyond repair, and we (hopefully) will not. but let's not go there yet. let's go here instead:
seriously. where does this boy come from? love him to pieces, as my mom would say.

still true. love him to pieces. just wish I could figure out the compulsion to sleep in his shoes and his hat. is it the same thing that drove an old friend of mine to always (and I mean always) wear a pair of shoes in which he could play frisbee at the drop of a hat?

piles of corn on the cob and fresh cherries from one of those lovely roadside stands for dinner. (SO reminds me of summer and mis padres.) and this girl: MOM. guess what I have in my mouth? something that I can eat... como una... beaver.
