Down with boogers and the BCS

okay - seriously people. We have a problem. What has happened to the nice polite young people of the next generation? Yesterday evening I came home and discovered that SOMEONE had decided that my bathroom towel looked more appealing than a kleenex. Big. Huge. Booger. Huge and gross. I'm not sure what we have done wrong but anytime our kids have anything on their hands they come looking for our clothes, hands outstretched. Something needs to change people. I need change. I'm going to write the president.....and my congressman.

daily affirmations

when I was pregnant and preparing for hypno-birthing, I would spend time each day listening to a set of daily affirmations. mostly they were along the lines of "your body knows what to do" which is good for your mind to know when you're going into something like natural childbirth and hoping for the best.

ANYWAY. today Romney came up with his own affirmation, and I'll tell you right now that I would LOVE to hear him say it every day. it would mean very good things were happening in my house - specifically, my bathroom.
"Mom, I am the greatest pooper boy ever!"

watch out boys...

yesterday morning when I woke up, I found Lainey in her current favorite dress-up: bride, veil and all (although the veil is pretty makeshift - it's an old slip, but whatever. it works.) she stomped into my room all worked up, and proceeded to air her grievances about Romney: he wouldn't dance with her just how she wanted. She wanted her hands like so, and his like so, and he just wanted to hold both hands! gasp! I suggested compromise (dreaded word to a five year old) and here's what I got back:

L: I WILL NOT MARRY ROMNEY IF HE WON'T DO WHAT I SAY!

noted.

(this is an earlier and warmer-weather version of the bride/superhero combo, but you get the idea.)

kedictions!

one of the curtis family traditions for new years involves making predictions for the coming year on multiple levels: personal, family, local, national, and global. I think. to be honest, by that point in the evening I'm usually so stuffed of tacos fabulosos and queso fundido, that everything else that happens is a little blurry. but anyway. we'd pull out and review the predictions we'd made the previous new year's eve (if we could still find them), and make new predictions for the coming year! very fun.

well, the fam didn't get together this year for new year's eve, so we passed this little tradition on to our own little fam - slightly simplified. so here they are - our 2009 kedictions (as Romney called them) recorded on the blog where hopefully we'll remember to look for them come next year!

2009 PREDICTIONS!

Jim predicts:
  • Romney will go potty on the toilet. For real.
  • Lainey will become an expert jump roper. (Lainey responded, "what does that mean?")
  • Marie will start a house co-op. (hahahaha)
  • Jim will register as a Democrat. (hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. unlikely. but who cares, since I know where his heart really lies...)
Marie predicts:
  • Romney will learn to ride a 2-wheeler bicycle without training wheels.
  • Lainey will make a Spanish-speaking friend in another country (preferably while we're on vacation in another country, right?)
  • Marie will run longer than 5K in a race (the length of the actual race is still flexible...)
  • Jim will become an accredited investor.
Lainey predicts:
  • Romney will go potty all the time and will get to come to Spanish school with me!
  • Lainey will learn how to swim without a life jacket.
  • Marie will learn more Spanish.
  • Jim will get more days off.
Romney predicts:
  • My favorite movie is Kung Fu Panda.
  • My favorite movie is Kung Fu Panda and Mulan.
  • Blue is my favorite color and that's what I mean. Dark blue and light blue.
  • I love my mom and dad.
  • My favorite thing is my mom and dad.
  • My favorite thing is my big sister.
  • My favorite thing is my mom and dad and my big sister.
