what do your kids sing about?

yeah - he is ours. Eat your heart out.

or maybe he'll eat yours

**Disclaimer - Marie is worried that this is a little braggy. Well GOOD. IT IS. If you could document proof that your kids loved you then you probably would too. Who knows how long it will last anyway. It will only be about 10 years now and he'll be a teenager and we'll need to watch this while we cry ourselves to sleep at night because our kids hate us. ****

I've also been considering a whole post about the "braggy" nature of blogs so I'm glad you brought this up. I've heard a lot of people say they don't like blogs because people just try and make their lives look cooler than everyone else's and they are not very true to life. Here is what I have to say to that. DUH! Blogs for me are here to remember the good days, not the days that I want to kill my kids. Besides, I tend not to take pictures of temper tantrums and although I don't hit my kids why would I use this fun space to tell you about the times I feel tempted? I'm not really interested in remembering those days of my life. I do however love documenting the good times so that is probably all you are going to hear about. If you want real life - come on over and hang out. You are welcome to join our chaos anytime.

Here is another real life moment. Laine the Hurricane has no idea how to smile. Here is the required first day of school photo moment.

BRAG AWAY! Actually, I don't really think this is braggy at all. It is adorable and Romney should teach it to Zeke. (Who has the exact same PJs, by the way).
AS for real life on a blog, I really think you guys have a great balance of it. I mean really - was Romney getting in the Crisco something people should be jealous of? Or how about the sweet bike wrecks? Nah, not too braggy or ideal life here - and that is great!

I am shocked that Romney loves the two of you, just shocked. And a little put off by a brag-a-rrific blog post about it.

OK, not really, that's pretty darn cute and I loved the post. And though it's true that I've occasionally been annoyed by a sunny-only, perfect world, perfect family blog, I have to question why I am reading the blog in those situations, and it's not usually because I love the family that is posting it. Not as much as I love you guys, anyway.

You guys have a braggy blog? Puh-lease. Yours is more "real life" and hysterical than anyone's. Love it.

And I agree with Collette. Maybe we could get Romney to teach his song to all the Nursery kids. We could definitely use some more "I love my mommy and daddy" in the Meeker house and less, "Dad- are you mad? Just like Mom?" (Yes- a real quote by Will yesterday.) Not so much feeling the love over here.

I can't believe how big Laine looks, when the heck did that happen? Where have I been?

It's really true. I am freaked out about the teenage years. We have to hold on to these moments. I'm convinced it only gets harder. That video is adorable! Lainey looks so cute.

When your kids are teenagers they still express their love...."my life sucks", "Ahhh" (as the their bedroom door slams), and "can I take your car tonight" are all just other ways of saying "I love mommy....I love daddy" RIGHT?!

Darling picture of Laine. What I want to know is, are we sure that Jim didn't teach Romney that song first and then bribe him with candy to get him to sing it? I dunno...:) So cute and we love your blog, of course. Never braggy, always entertaining.

I am so glad you filmed it, that will be a nice reminder someday. I HAVE filmed a tantrum or two before and saved them for later. I have one of Joel sitting at the table explaining to me just how mean of a mom I really am for making him go to 9am church, at the age of 7- priceless. I will gift wrap it for him when he has a son.

Oh, my little brag, Savannah loves to sing "I walk by faith" and she is trying to memorize "As sisters in Zion". She is a bit more into church than Joel was!!!

what a baby, that Rom. he is such a sweetie. I brag enough about your kids in daily conversation to fill many blog posts and they aren't even mine.

maybe this is a weird question, but why is it wombat and the hurricane?

(jim - not marie but I don't feel like relogging in)
Wombat: Short-legged, muscular quadrupeds very good at digging. We had a kids book about a wombat and for awhile Romney was known as the Rombat. Eventually it became clear he was more animal than human (plus the R was hard for some family members to say) so it reverted back to Wombat.

Hurricane: Laine is a spaz. Her in utero name was Dizzy because it seemed like she was just spinning and spinning in there. Later in life she developed into a professional wrestler and her pro name became Laine the Hurricane. You should also see what a room looks like after she has left. Serious natural disaster.

here is a link for post early on in the blog days.

ps - glad to finally welcome the McCulloughs to the club.
