a comment today on the blog said "thanks for a real mom post." Well, just so our joint parenting issues are clear here are a few examples.
The first thing that came to my mind was the time we didn't stop Laine from eating dirt so we could take pictures. Obviously this was old - Laine was 1. It was the beginning of what we like to call - alternative parenting. We are certain it will be the wave of the future.

This week when we weren't looking Laine dressed Rom up in a dress so they could dance to some "beautiful music." It wasn't long before he made his way out to his true home - the dirt pile.

we recently changed the top banner on the blog to a picture of our cute kids playing in the flowers on a hike. The reality was that most of the time they looked like this (I think they may have been trying to imitate the Rolling Stones)

oh - or how about the time we went on a camping trip and the car broke and then the replacement car broke and then we had the car so full of STUFF that we could barely see the kids in back and they were scared the whole drive home because they couldn't see each other.

I love real parenting. The glares, the dirt, and the broken things are the fun stuff you laugh about later. You never laugh about the times when they were perfect-- oh, have you had those moments? We're still waiting for ours.
I love it! Thanks again. And that picture of Romney in the dress...perfect! I've got one of Zeke with a headband on, but maybe I need to step it up a notch. :)
you guys are the best parents..and a little dirt won't hurt!
I was once stuffed in the back seat with all the gear and couldn't see anywhere. I was a senior in HS and I was NOT impressed. I love Laine's look in the back seat. That says it all.
And I think the tutu is very becoming of Romney.
I'm laughing so hard, more pictures please. I was like, gosh that picture of laine as a baby sure looks like romney! then I read the caption, it was romney! ha ha ha
Romney makes such a pretty girl! =)
I love real life stories.
Sweet Laine, scared out of her mind... a great parenting tactic for sure.
And Romney in a dress, so obviously taking after Jim and his side of the family
love this post. love it. love it.
Romney in the ballet outfit cracks me up!
carrol - how did you know! Jim did go through a little stint of dress-wearing as his high school's mascot...
