the boy with the wonky eye

Every since Romney discovered his ability to go cross-eyed he has found great joy in doing it frequently. We told him he better stop because, you know, going cross eyed isn't good for you. Plus, someone's grandma out there told us that if you get hit on the back while you are making a face that then you will stick that way forever! (see 80's movie "One Crazy Summer" for example on film of some mean little girls that suffer this fate.)

I know most of you think that this whole slap on the back thing is just a myth but....Look out Wikipedia. Coming soon is a new update into the scientific discoveries of the decade. We have confirmed that someone's grandma is right. Recently while eating some cheesy goldfish crackers cross-eyed, Romney was struck on the back by his sister. She claimed she was just trying to save his life because she thought he was choking but we are pretty sure she was trying to make the cross-eyed face permanent. (back-slapping sister picture NOT enhanced to show red-eye. She really comes that way. )

On New Years Day, it was confirmed that Romney could not longer avoid being cross-eyed when trying to look at anything within an arms reach. Looks like scientific proof to me of the ol' slap on the back theory.

The solution? Corrective lenses. No wait - I mean really stylish corrective lenses. Romney is usually not the outspoken opinionated one in the family but if you unleash him on a room full of eye-wear he becomes VERY certain of what he likes and does not like. And really, who am I to argue? If I argue will he wear the glasses? Will he revolt? That would defeat the purpose of the glasses altogether. I suggested in the store that he get a job so he could pay for them himself but he said no. I can't make him get a job or I would go to jail and I don't think I could afford new glasses from jail. A serious conundrum that could only be reconciled by forking over the cash for the glasses that Rom referred to as "the stylin' ones." (also - sorry Jane, but he told me Peter's are not stylish and any time he didn't like a pair he said - "NO DAD. These look like Peter's." I think he just didn't want to compete with Peter's cuteness.) Also - the glasses pictured are the "good ones." The sytlin' ones won't be ready until next week.

Picture to the left shows Romney's new powers of vision gathering around him like lighting shooting into his ears. It is possible he now thinks he is some sort of super hero.

BTW - Since he got the glasses today he has been making lots of funny faces. My favorite was his "church lady" impression.
