the other night I was asking Lainey to go put on her jammies and get ready for bed. and asking. and asking. and asking.
finally laine said, "Why are you making me? I am not a child!"
news to me! I made the unfortunate mistake of laughing SO LOUD when she said this, that I then had the pleasure of hearing that over and over as she was putting on her jammies, broken-record style.
incidentally, little Rom is rocking at the potty training. All along I've been saying that I was just going to let him take his time and he'd do it when he was ready...I just didn't know that it would actually work! I'm so relieved. he had this conversation with Lainey the other day when they were driving somewhere with Jim.
Rom: I have to go potty!
Laine: Can you hold it?
Rom: I don't know...how do you do that?
and sadly, I do not have the word power to describe the faces or actions that Laine did next, so use your best 5 year old imagining. funny.
also funny, and related to potty training in that he's wearing "diego pants" in this video, is Romney when he's singing "the rockin' band." enjoy.

Romney is becoming more and more like I imagine Jim was as a child. Except a lot cuter and more well behaved. Jim will likely live vicariously through Romney when romney is a break dancing and rock and roll legend....
Your kids are so funny. Laine says the greatest things! We loved being with you guys this week. We'll have to do it again soon!
How did you get him potty trained? Ansley still refuses. He has no interest. At this point, Caden is more interested in the potty and I swear if Caden is potty trained beofre Ansley, all of his dates will hear about it!
Zeke watched this 3 times and wanted more! Alexander after just seeing the beginning started singing Romney's little song.
Marie - your kids are hilarious! You and Jim are so it make sense that they would be too. I love that Lainey is "not a child!" Where do they come up with this stuff?

I don't know if any of you actually check back to see if I answer your questions...but in case you do. Romney has a pop-up book called Rock'n Roll Band, and he took it from there.
as for potty: I don't put ANY pressure on him at all, just give him opportunities. he got to pick out his own underpants, and then could choose however many times a day if he wanted to wear pull-ups, diapers, or underpants. and also, I bribe. he got to choose the treat he would earn each time he went potty on the toilet (or even tried, at first.) first peeps, then candy corn. AND we had a playdate with a friend who was potty trained, and that made an impression on rom (though it took about two weeks for it to sink in.) for a while, I was thinking he'd be FOUR before he was potty trained, but he did it - just in his own time and way.
Rom is such a crack-up! It's hard not to rock out when you're wearing diego unders. I bet there is many a male rock star out there sporting them right now! Happy to hear about the potty training. Good job Rom and good job Mom. AND, I can't believe you would mistake Laine for a CHILD. Just because she is smallish...and in kindegarten...what are you thinking?:)
