Today it is all about me and my flaws. This is Jim by the way. You probably already knew that because Marie doesn't have any flaws but some cousins recently mentioned that they didn't realize that I actually sometimes post and it isn't JUST Marie.
So anyway - back to me. Turns out I'm a dork. Marie finally informed me of this truth tonight. I was simply mentioning something that I would write on one of our appliances with a sharpie and she let the cat out of the bag. So there you have it. I'm a dork. This wouldn't be that big a deal except I also learned today that mid calf socks and shorts are a serious faux pas. Apparently if you wear mid calf socks and shorts you are a dork. Strike two for me. I learned this on the radio this morning and they talked about it as if everyone knew it was bad. They went on for quite long time about how horrible all the people are who don't own ankle socks. Well, I don't own any ankle socks and I like to wear shorts. I told Marie what I heard on the radio and she just started laughing and said she was planning on buying me ankle socks for my birthday because she had noticed the problem. She NOTICED but she never TOLD me. I wonder what else she has never told me? (if I have something in my teeth, please tell me.)

(a special thanks to the hurricane for taking this picture)Now that I have that off my chest and the truth is out there, I'm also in serious trouble for even talking about fashion. I told a cousin over the weekend I wouldn't read her blog anymore because she had a post about nothing but being excited about fall fashion. I told her I would give her one more chance and then I was out.....now here I am talking about fashion. I just don't know what to do from here. Now that I'm officially a dork and I now know I'm a dork it seems like I should have to start living differently somehow. I feel like I should spend more time playing dungeons and dragons or trying to figure out how to spell words upside down with my calculator.
Marie has had her moments though - here is a throw back to one of my favorites! (in fairness I had to go back to 2002 for a dork picture of Marie - I only had to go back to last month to find one of me)

Jim, Nate sounds like you. He is for sure a dork and gets told that often. And he also wears the offending mid calf socks and shorts. I had no idea that was not ok. Who makes these stupid rules anyway? I personally do not really care for ankle socks on men generally, but Nate does have some that he wears sometimes. So, I guess he is that one step closer to non-dorkiness.
So, as you are practicing being a bertter dork, I hope you tell us what some of those cool upside-down words you figure out on the calculator. My favorites have always been 7734 and 378806.

Jim you look great in midcalf socks. People who make fashion rules do it just so they can tell other people how fashionable they are. I vote you never wear ankle socks!!! (And that is the coolest picture of Marie!)
and now I see the reason for why I systematically delete all of the dorky pictures of me! lucky thing. I don't really think the picture really qualifies as dorky. uncoordinated, yes. dorky...questionable. not that I'm not a dork (we're a good pair!) - that's never been in question.
and it's at gooseberry mesa. one of those times when the bike was NOT my friend. I'm glad he didn't post the after picture. that one is way worse (and dorkier) but not as cool. lucky me.
I'm totally giggling to myself about that picture of Marie. I honestly can't stop laughing. When I showed Derek, he revealed that Jim knew that you (Marie) were going to bite it there and knew that he should help you, but wanted to get the photo first. Did you know that Marie? BTW, Jim, leaving your wife to bite it so you can capture the moment might make your dorkdom either official or void (depending on who you ask).

So, there is an actual "dork" picture of you Marie - you actually noted it yourself. It was a post from this summer - the socks with the flip flops and skirt. :)

Em is going to buy me some ankle socks today. I was featured in my high school yearbook in the "fashion faux pas" section for wearing ankle socks and shorts, and apparently I've been on the cover of "White Guy that Can't Dress" magazine for the last decade because I've been wearing midcalf socks since my senior year.
