Holy moly meet little Joanie

We added a new little one to our little family today!  Joanie Grace Jackson was born today at 4:12 PM.  (sounds like the beginning of an obituary but I couldn't think of how else to start it.)  So she surprised us by being a little bigger than expected.  Wombat and the Hurricane both weighed in at 6.14 and 6.7 respectively and  but little sister was 8.14.  We have already moved her up a weight class for her future wrestling classes.

Marie and Joanie are both feeling great and doing well.  Joanie has so far shown her disposition to be calm.  She has hardly made a peep, she eats her dinner without complaining, and seems so far to be the infant version of Mary Poppins.  Practically perfect in every way.

When we shared the BIG news (wow Marie - 8.14 - talking about moving up a class. I've always considered way above Jim, but now you've managed to even surpass "Marisa" status in my book)... anyway, when we shared the news with the boys they all ooohed and awwwhed like girls at book club. Then, all of the sudden, Noah piped up: "Hey wait... Romney already HAS A SISTER! Why does he get two??" (short period of silence filled only with the inaudible sound of six-year-old brain gears churning)... "Maybe... we could trade for Baby Eliot!"

We then reminded Noah that he loved his baby brother, which happily (for both us and Eliot) left him recanting his previously ingenious and only slightly troubling idea.

Bottom line: Marie rocks, Joanie rocks, the name rocks, and that sweet Central Laundry outfit dated February 11th rocks the hardest.

Love to you all - Dave

I want her. The original Joan had some excellent Bay Area years, so I'm expecting this Joanie to come our way as well. Spurred by the news of Joanie's birth, Nat asked if we could have all our "Utah friends" come to a party at our house.

All of which is to say: we miss you and congratulations and hooray for a new baby born into one of the best families that ever was.
