when it's springtime in the rockies...

...you can be grateful that at least your kids really like snow -

and shoveling, oddly enough! they would not be persuaded that the snow would actually melt without needing to be shoveled by the next day at the latest. Lainey even asked if we could go on a walk around our neighborhood, "with our shovels!" My apologies to my neighbors...I talked her out of it. Inevitably that little adventure would have ended with me carrying three shovels, two kids, and some random assortment of unnecessary objects picked up along the way.

Laine was on a quest for the perfect snow angel, always pointing to the middle of some untouched patch of snow, asking me to help her make a snow angel there, and then being terribly upset by all the footprints in and out again. could we have a little perfectionist on our hands here?

even with happy snow kids (pre-frozen hands and snow angel fury, of course) it was hard not to wish we were back in Hawaii in all of this springtime snow! okay, I'll be honest. I've been wishing we were back in Hawaii since the minute our plane left Honolulu.

before we left to come back home, Laine asked in complete seriousness if we could maybe move to Hawaii when it was time to think about moving, and Romney chimed in, suggesting that Jim could find work as a surfer. it might actually work, as long as he had a little sidekick of a hula girl!

for romney, this trip provided opportunities to sleep in lots of exquisite new places, at least when he wasn't climbing up and jumping off of them (this was the view from our porch, by the way.)

for laine, this trip was non-stop fun, love, and attention from the best of aunts and uncles with amazing reserves of energy and patience. the trip did also happen to include a swimming pool, some really fun beaches with great waves to splash in, sea turtle and humpback whale spotting, tide pool exploring, a visit to an aquarium, and the ever-popular flower leis.

what more could a girl want? a gorgeous WEDDING was the icing on the cake, complete with fancy dresses, incredible flowers, and the happiest ben and dana we've ever seen. hooray! what a couple! what a wedding! what a vacation! how about taking us along on your anniversary next year, too?

how different the pictures in this post make me feel. They seem like they should be so much further apart than within days of each other, right?
It sounds like you guys had a lot of fun and the pictures are beautiful.
I love looking at your kids; eye in pictures. They are so amazing and SO BLUE!

you're very observant meghan! this might merit a post of its own, but yes, romney was/is OBSESSED with laine's pink crocs to the point that it made it difficult for her to wear them when she needed (he'd scream when we took them off his feet, and he wanted to wear them to sleep!) so we finally broke down and bought him his own crocs (he chose blue) in hawaii which helped a little. but still, as soon as she takes hers off, he wants them! there are worse things he could do, right?

Yay for Hawaii! It looks so wonderful..so many good pictures. Far too many photogenic people, I must say. I am intrigued by the thought of Jim becoming a professional surfer. I think he should try it out. Then we could come visit...lots and lots. Will you work on that Jim? It doesn't look like Lainey will have any problem with the hula. Cute. Cute. And I just don't know what to tell ya 'bout the pink crocks. Maybe don't let him wear them in Junior High. He'll get beat up for sure.

So, random question- does the happy couple live by us and have 24 Hour gym memberships? Because yesterday, I saw a couple that looks exactly like them do the whole spot each other from across the room, slowly walk towards each other, kiss, and embrace thing right in front of me on the treadmill and I swear they look exactly like the same couple. Weird.
