ski school happiness

well, maybe I should clarify. laine being in ski school made me really happy. (notice how big my smile is compared to hers. partly the goggles obstruct her smiling ability...but still. I'm SO excited. and she's just plain excited.) in fairness, she had to do all of the scary and unknown parts of the outing, and I just get to enjoy the benefits! she was awesome, though. she skied through some very cold weather and serious snow, and was such a trooper. I'm hoping that she'll just think that's what it's like when we ski - so we can go in any kind of weather!

we got in on this awesome ski school program and got 4 days of ski school for a total bargain, and now laine can ski all the way down sunnyside unassisted! it is almost impossible to describe how happy that makes me! but it's a lot lot lot. and even better was that I didn't have to fight with her about it! I tried taking her down a few times on my own and got nothing but grief, so I was more than happy to pass the teaching to someone else!

we did manage to schedule our ski school days on three serious snow days so it took us some time to get up the canyon (many thanks to flexible baby-sitters on a couple of those days!) and that was no fun. but once we got there...it was all beautiful. her highlight was riding on the magic carpet (the little surface tow), and mine was watching her improve improve improve to the point of just attacking that hill on her last run. another highlight was having catherine come up and join us for the very end of one of our days. laine thought that was pretty special.

I had fun giving Romney his first exposure to the big mountain too, by way of the trusty backpack and the rope tow. he loved it once he had his own goggles, and especially if we were pretending to be airplanes. and it turns out that everything is better if there's the promise of hot chocolate at the end - with marshmallows, of course!

Man, if Laine can do it , maybe I should try again. I'll bet Nate would be as happy as you are! It sounds like a fun time, even with the snow coming down. Admittedly I am sure, like Romney, I would be most excited about the hot chocolate in a warm room!

Way to go Laine. You are raising a family of ski bunnies. I have envy of all your fabulous ski adventures! I'n with Rom too - life is always better with ski goggles and hot chocolate.

Yahoo!! Way to go Lainey! Way to go Marie. We've got to do some of that together soon, with Dave. Saturday? I'll help with Rom in the lodge.
